It depends on the rooms actually. There are some rooms where he'll never show up, but he can still show up the next room. Only with time you'll know which rooms are linked with which encounter.

If you have any or can make any, use grenade Freeze rounds which are the best thing about Nemesis.

When you try to dodge him, try to do a 90° turn toward the arm he doesn't use to hit you.

>Just let the player do what they want.

I am pretty sure that, if not given that choice, a lot of people would stick to a "video game logic" and think this is a bossfight they have to fight.

Besides, the result has little impact on gameplay and you can still do what you want. You can choose "fight", but decide to flee straight away.

I think most people who dislike just look at the surface of things.

If you stay superficial, people consider it RE2.5, since it wasn't a huge upgrade technically speaking from the previous games, unlike the difference between 1 to 2.

Also people say it's too short.

In reality, it has the deepest mechanics, the highest skill ceiling, and the most freedom in gameplay, whether it's freedom of movement (unlinearility) or freedom of gameplay (huge choice of weapons, ammo making, and semi-random enemy and item placement).

As for its lengths, RE3 doesn't have less content than RE2. The difference is that, in RE2, you have to play the games 4 different scenarios to see only small bits which are different every time, while in RE3, all the different things that can happen are either random, or depend on the player's action. But if you take all the "unique content" of RE3 and put add it together, and do the same with RE2, you'd end up with approximatively the same sum of content. RE2's content is just spread in a way that makes it seem like there is more.

I don't believe you can control the direction. it basically depends on your opponent's attack, and on what kind of dodge you're doing (whether it's the one when you hit "aim" at the right moment; or the one when you hit "shoot" while aiming).

So in short; if you press "aim" right when your enemy attacks, you will dodge.
If you're in aiming stance, and press attack, right when your enemy is attacking, you will dodge.

The dodge mechanic works in a way that it can not really work against you. Anytime you get a dodge that seem random to you, it means that without the dodge mechanic, you would have been hit, and your shot (if not there was) wouldn't have registered anyway. Yeah, you MIGHT still get hit after a dodge, but that just makes things even. So, either you win from a dodge, or it changes nothing.

The "press shoot at the right time while aiming" dodge is hard to achieve; but the "press aim at the right time" dodge is easier to pull out.

Basically, if you are WITHIN the "putting my gun up in aiming stance" animation while your enemy attacks, you will dodge. So, the longer that particular animation is, the easier it will be to perform a dodge. This is why it is easier to dodge with the shotgun, than with the handgun.

The dodge mechanic is a great "easy to learn, hard to master" mechanic, which increases the skill cap of the game to a level no other RE game reached.

But it is not something I would recommend to get deep into for someone's first playthrough.

Yeah, in RE3 movement is super fast, smooth and tight. You have new moves like the dodge mechanics too.

In CV movement is incredibly stiff, Claire honestly looks stiffer than zombies. Gameplay went back to basics with no dodge, no powder system, barely any freedom of choice for the player, etc

But that's only one part of how bad CV is. It also ruined many other aspects, such as the whole story (from the story itself to the way it's told), the lack of real puzzles, etc

You can't force someone to see the light, you can only hope they find it for themselves given time.

RE3 > RE2
True believers, I highly recommend playing the Dreamcast version. Costume Select is unlocked from the start, the VMU displays your health, and the game runs almost PC smooth.

I used to take the internet's word when they said RE3's best version was the gamecube but I just bought a dreamcast + 2 controllers with VMU's 1 rumblepack + RE3 in disc tray for 25 bucks and the game runs great, has awesome features unlocked from the start, and can output this game in great quality with VGA(trying to find someone to VGA and Region Free mod it for me at the moment).

RE3 is the best. Deepest gameplay (highest skill ceiling), great pacing and best replay value due all the possibilities in the game.

RE2 is the most liked because it is the most sold and therefore the most played and many people's first RE. But honestly? It's a poor copy of RE1, that's "technically speaking" superior, but that's worse in every other way.
Everything is exactly like in RE1, you get the mansion that you explore in a similar fashion with the same number of keys opening aproximatively the same number of rooms which have the same purposes (like the optional rooms with the last key to get strong supplies), the way you go out then come back with the last key and find hunters/lickers then go underground and finally find an Umbrella lab that explodes... Everything is the same, except with a schizophrenia syndrom in terms of location (the game doesn't know if it wants to take place in a town, a mansion or a police department), worse survival gameplay (for instance they had to throw tons of ammo at the player because contrary to in RE1, you HAVE to kill every single boss) and worse pacing.
Also you know how in RE1 (and 3 as well) you have all those possibilities in each scenario depending on what the PLAYERS does? Well all that in gone in RE2, and instead you have artificial length with FOUR scenarios where at least 90% of each is exactly the same. That's a poor way to go at it, it takes players for fools. It is better for replay value to have one or two scenarios with several ways to go at it depending on your actions rather than 4 static scenarios which are 90% the same.

I genuinely believe that people who think RE2 is the best and who think RE3 is just a quick cash-in are people who have only played each game once, maybe twice, and who have only looked at the surface of each game. Once you seriously get into each game, you realize RE2's weaknesses and RE3's depth and tight design.

>last gf tried getting into vidya 13 times in the span of 5 years.
>Never force her cause I don't care ot or really want to have a gf to play vidya with
>She picks out my favorite game on the PS1, RE 3
>She gets by the mid point. Nemesis hasn't really said hello other than the mandatory moments in the game when he pops in to say hello.
>Forget where but Nemesis fucking rolls through and destroys her
>She yelled super hard, tossed the controller shattering it, dent in the wall, starts crying

Calming her down was easy enough, having to say goodbye to my favorite childhood controller was not.
