I had both consoles and PC at the time, and I thought Goldeneye was a cool game which did cool things that I wasn't seeing on PC. At the same time I also had cool games like Doom 2, Quake 2, and Terminator Future Shock, which did cool things I weren't seeing on console.
(I didn't have Doom 64 or Quake 2 64). Console also had Super Mario 64, which no computer had, as far as my kid self was concerned.

Then, when Pokémania hit, even though I got a headstart on most people thanks to emulation, I was still glad to eventually get Pokémon on Game Boy, because it was portable and I could actually trade with people.
