For my latest playthrough of FF6 I decided to patch FF6 Is The Best Game ever to the ROM. Excellently-done difficulty hack. It's the same game as the orignal, just harder.

I never have to grind. Some parts are incredibly hard but everything is doable if you plan your equipment, stats, items and HP/MP carefully. You really have to use everything at your disposal to win. Running, rows, and items are all essential parts of battle, whereas all this shit is just an afterthought in the original.
