Sarah gains far more experience blowing all her mana. At level 4 she'll already be able to cast around 4 times, and her MP goes much higher from there. So it's really only the early battles where she won't gain full levels from wasting her MP. After that she just grows faster and faster. Only argument against it is not wanting to sit around wasting turns spending MP, which is understandable.
