Yes, this happened to me too. I had two phats and THREE FUCKING lites and they all did it. Never dropped them. Just normal usage. Eventually the tiny little tab on the hinge would crack and pop off on it's own. Then I got a DSi and the cheap paint job scratched off easily revealing the pure white plastic underneath. Also the L and R buttons would just stop working after a while unless you opened the console and cleaned the switches. EVERYONE I knew had these exact same problems. It was a shitshow. Don't try to gaslight me. I was THERE. The XL was good though.
