It's all about creating routes, practicing them and executing them perfectly while shooting and dodging as accurately as possible, there really isn't much room for improvisation (chaining is extremely important when playing for score/personal challenge) and the level of frustration can be very high, however, the most dedicated gamers will experience a very different pleasure than what narrative games offer.
