It just feels like it's what Namco should've done for Assault, it worked well for Sky Crawlers, though I forget if PA were busy with their own stuff at the time or not.
Ultimately it feels like a nobrainer for a lot of flying games in general since they have a good formula figured out for gameplay that is just fun.
>SF launch title
If there was a good SF game on a new console I'd probably buy my first new Nintendo in ages. But I don't get my hopes up, think the last anniversary went by without much fanfare from Nintendo themselves.
If anything some clones have been popping up lately.

Either that or another game with the strategy elements of 2 and Command. I would even go for a hex-based tactical sort of thing, or maybe like Galactic Conquest in the original Battlefront games. Instead of RTS or turn-based battles, meeting up with the enemy transitions into an all-range dogfights or planetary battles.

Do you mean the timer for the core? It's practically random because the game lags making the timer run slower at times.
But not everything is random.
>10 points = mothership trigger
>15 points = laser drop
>2 hatches destroyed = bomb drop or laser if you have singles
>hatches open when when you go below a certain number of enemies on the map
>having less than four hatches makes them open more frequently

>The controls feel a bit awkward with boosting and breaking.
You have to use claw grip for the most efficient play. What controller are you using?
>And do people use the first-person view at all?
No, unless it's for a challenge. Or for making the game run faster on speedruns
>Actually, just some general tips would be nice.
Use charge shots for groups, you could theoretically double your points with this since a kill with "HIT+1" means you got two points. The people who do score runs often use the charge unlocked shot which you can do by holding Z and R to prevent lock on. You can also fire an unlocked change shot by doing it really quickly before the lock on activates. To fire your lasers rapidly you have to press A with a certain rhythm. Notice when you hold A you fire two lasers really fast and then a third one a bit slower? You move faster up and down and sideways while barrel rolling, so it's something you can use if you feel like you might not make a sharp turn. The bosses and Star Wolf have a timer, the more time you take the less points they give. To get a medal on a level you have to reach a certain score and have your wingmen alive.
