The Golden Axe games on the Genesis were considered pretty much a staple of the console, but were they that good to any of you? I always found them to be sluggish and unwieldy to play, cool looking and cool thematically but just felt inferior to Streets of Rage.

Are Golden Axe games good? I remember as a kid I found them annoyingly hard and stiff. Are they worth revisiting? I'm getting a bit tired of SoR as my go to beat em up.

This game has always seemed weird to me...the barbarian aesthetic of the two non dwarf characters always seemed to not fit in with the setting which seemed a bit futuristic in aesthetic compared to them. For example, the lead character probably should have been a knight warrior
