The American Super Nintendo redesign was not that good, but the console inside was pretty much the same.
I think the worst offender in this case was the NES.
I mean, look at it. Compared to the famicom it looks horrible.
Also, they removed the awesome controller trays and added a terrible and useless cartridge tray that breaks easily and ruins the pins.

No, if the Turbo looked identical to the PC-Engine, it probably would have sold even less. You know how the Famicom looked? Try to imagine NOA selling it as the NES. People would have never taken it seriously, even if it was marketed as a toy.

What WOULD have worked to it's advantage however would have been having multiple controller ports and a better pack-in title than Keith Courage in Alpha Zones.
