This is true in theory, but it's offset by other factors. In NiDL, they gave King Dedede and the minibosses large sprites but made their AI doofy as hell so they're all slow and cumbersome, even the miniboss's hardest level in comparison to NES. This is actually overcorrected so they're actually much easier than they should be despite appearances. (Granted, this also affects Meta Knight, who's not really all that bigger than Kirby yet can now be easily beaten with the almighty button mash unless you have like two HP left so something tells me it wasn't thoughr out very well.) In KSSU, they gave Dedede a (bad) hunched over standing sprite set during the Spring Breeze battle to loosely approximate the SNES hitbox, and his AI didn't suffer too much as a result compared to the last remake, though if anything the hitbox still just makes Dedede a bigger target since his arena is still bigger than one screen. Also creates a graphical inconsistency because Dedede doesn't hunch over like that in Gourmet race or Revenge of the King, so if you didn't play any other Kirby games on GBA or DS you might notice and wonder what the deal is. The SNES proportions are even closer to Dedede's design in Ultra's CG cutscenes. It's almost as if they could've mitigated this if they DIDN'T make giant penguin sprites back in NiDL and stuck to the same spriteset for several games.

Speaking of graphical weirdness, anyone else notice how strange it is that the lower half of Capsule J2 is just straight up the original J?
