Dreamcast games in general are terrible about this because the VMU has such pathetic storage. The unreleased Half Life port is another troublesome one because the save file size varies.

Where the fuck were those god damn sailors?

Did this game prove that a uber realistic immersive sim can’t work? Like no other game has tried it, was the plot just wrong? Could another genre of story like a cyberpunk thriller or survival horror have worked with this kind of game design? Or is it just fundamentally anti-fun?

What are some other good fuck around games? I consider morrowind one of these types too. I just want to fuck around in a fake world

Shemnue I-II HD collection - when i play this game on my thinkpad with i5 and 12GB RAM, both cutscenes and gameplay has no textures - i cant see anything and i cannot even leave initial room. I read some online discussions and it appears you cannot play this game on laptops with integrated graphics, you need nividia graphic card. Its surprising to me that on this same thinkpad i was able to play GTA V, Bayonetta, Catherine, Yakuza Kiwami etc. but i wont be able to play 20 years old game. Anyone tried, and has any idea how to fix it and play it on this laptop?

I do love those quirky games and arcade ports, but you really have to have an Ocarina or Metal Gear Solid level mainstream AAA title to sell your system. Sonic Adventure sure as fuck wasn't it.

Playing Shenmue for the 1st time. I am using an emulator and I am not familiar with the Dreamcast.

I am in the dojo for the first time, and an icon in the lower right-hand corner is appearing along with a little beep noise.

Is there something I am supposed to be seeing on the display in the center of the controller? If yes, is seeing this crucial to playing the game? Any known work-around?

Replaying it now I realize how much this games lacks in meaningful side content, it has such a great world but very little to do outside of the main story.

Is it even possible to collect all the toys without save scumming?

Sailors aside, what made it such an amazing game?

What was so special about this dumb game?

This game is utterly atrocious. It’s the epitome of nostalgia goggles nullifying reason. It’s an adventure game with no interesting items or mystery to solve, fighting game with broken gameplay and hardly anyone to fight. It’s an endless chain of terribly voiced people to talk to, waiting for something to happen, going back home to sleep. There’s absolutely no novelty to buying sodas or capsule toys anymore, if there ever was any. The world is filled with so many inane things to do, it boggles my mind how anyone would want to do this. The fighting parts really just rub shit in the wound though. Try pulling off a combo while the camera spastically pans around you and not wanting to throw your controller. Can’t wait for the backlash against 3 when it’s released and everyone realizes this is a game best left in 1999.

1. Pretending Shenmue 1 or 2 were ever good games
2. Pretending Doom 2 is a worthy sequel and not just an expansion pack sold as a sequel
3. Pretending that Final Fantasy 1-3 have aged gracefully and are worth playing now
