ah, that's an interesting bit of fanfiction, maybe a little bit unhinged but either way it does somewhat match up to the specs of the actual Nintendo Playstation prototype / MSU-1, enough so that i can play it on my real SNES.
Also the NES can actually use SNES controllers, there is nothing stopping it except extra polling of the buttons in software. I'm willing to bet backward compatibility was in the works early on but was quickly abandoned after Nintendo realized all of the ways that the poor NES was abused into doing things it was never meant to do lol.
picrel i do in fact use an SNES controller for NES games with a cable i dun made and it's amazing.

Latest project, wired up SNES to NES (and vice versa) controller adapters. The controllers are pin compatible and extremely similar inside, only the connectors are different. The SNES to NES works like a charm, i get to use B and Y where my thumb would normally be resting for A and B. However, there is a problem with the NES to SNES adapter, and will explain.
