Personally I don't think anything but 8 and 16 bit systems and games ought to be discussed. The Sega CD and Turbo CD, GBC and NGPC are, imo, the last retro consoles. What did Playstation give us? Metal Gear Solid. The paradigm shift. The narrative blockbuster. Rondo of Blood was better than SotN, and Robo Aleste was better than Zanac Neo. Sony brought gaming into the mainstream -- for better or worse. I can barely tolerate the PS1/N64 console war bullshit. You really think I want to hear people drone on about Nintendo's SNES port machine, with its forgettable mediocre exclusives like Sword of Mana. Or Fire Emblem, which had been done better before. No thanks.
