The end of the first dungeon. RPG Tsukūru 2 is very limited in regards to designing levels. It basically works on a tile selection screen similar to modern RPG Maker engines, but with bigger 4x4 square tiles. As such, a lot of the game looks similar and some parts are oddly designed (4x4 tiles means things will often not be properly centered). It's a sacrifice, but nowhere near as frustrating as the limits placed on the technical side of the engine. The entire game is pretty much coded through switches which means any break from linearity requires exponentially more switches, which in turn eats up exponentially more ROM space and skillful planning to get everything running smooth. I'm definitely going to work more in the hex editor now that I have a better knowledge of 65816 and see if I can bump up the ROM size at all. Right now, the text, maps, events, etc. need to be squeezed into 64kb of space, and I'm just about running out.
