>fast forward to few years ago
>Blood gets rereleased along with NBlood being playable
>play it
>finally find a boomer shooter I'm in love with, feels like I'm playing Castlevania and Dark Souls
>figure I'll like Blood custom levels but never actually try them, slightly scared that I won't like them and still won't figure out what it is I really like in games
>finally decide to start modding and deep dive into Doom WADs, studying the id tech engines
>redownload Blood to see if I still love it
>I do
>finally download a custom level to try tonight
>some random basic, kinda weird level from 1997
>fucking LOVE IT, feels like playing Arx Fatalis

That's why I never like custom levels for most games, I don't like the core mechanics, no wonder modding always seemed strange to me, the only thing I want to change in most games are core mechanics, maybe I should start working on a Blood map, dude
