There's more stuff stored down there now and a lot more cables. Spending all my game time at pic related with the boys.

Will probably be starting construction of my final resting place in the next couple years

Still rocking my 10yo 60" LG Plasma, got it cheap 5 years ago - no pedestal and only dropped once. Sometimes it gets a blue vertical line but people online said they go away on their own and they do otherwise perfect (except one torn out hdmi)

Very happy with the intensity and color depth. The basement battle bridge display is a much older much shittier plasma and it's good for gaming too.

Nah Pop is an emulator. It's a pretty good one but PCs even phones are just SO much more powerful. A better way to run game images without burning is actually from a PSP with component output cables but of course you miss out on many other parts of theexperience. And speaking of component cables...

>>4386334
OP I'm going to have to make some assumptions here but I'll try to help you out. I assume you're in the USA and talking about component cables since you didn't say scart. The PS1 can only output RGB though so you won't be able to display that signal on any US consumer TVs with "component" YPbPr inputs (that I'm aware of) so you would need a pro monitor like a PVM or alternatively you could play your PS1 game (from discs) in a PS2 which will output them over component to a US consumer TV.

I'm also going to assume you're asking about CRTs since you really don't want to use an LCD for a real Playstation so to answer your actual question, most cozy desktop stations use a 14". Lower left you can see my 14" dwarfed by my 60 inch plasma.

Finally, if you absolutely INSIST on using a flat screen, then know that it's a slippery slope that begins with you realizing emulation will work better on flat screens hands down and soon leads to you throwing your Playstation's real 90s PCB in the trash and stuffing a Raspberry Pi in there.

I just think it's a key point for /vr/ to be aware that on a typical modern computer and low latency gaming monitor, modern emulators can achieve very nearly as low input lag as real consoles on crts.

Although I personally own PVMs and prefer to play on CRTs for subjective aesthetic reasons when practical there's no reason to be pretentious about it and act like it necessarily gives me any specific advantage.

In fact, the way I usually play is by emulating on a Wii (which I'm sure causes some slight delay in and of itself) in 480i looping through my 14" pvm into my 60" plasma. I use the sound from and mainly look at the PVM but if I'm playing with other people they usually choose to sit back and play with wireless controllers even if I explain to them the disadvantage of doing so. Go figure.

- and even I personally am just using the Wii for convenience since I own most of the actual consoles and games we play. The entire debate is and should be mostly academic.

Have you guys developed some kind of permanent hunch from walking around staring at the ground or something? Do you have this problem at the movie theater and concerts too?

My gaming PC is also the family MCPC on the big plasma. My unfinished MAME cab is on the front porch where it's cold. I'll tolerate just ~99% accuracy To comfortably play in the company of my wife and son without antagonizing them. It's okay to make minuscule compromises, Anon.

>>3782960
It's there I promise you but if it's something that you don't even notice then you're good. I don't even mind it on most of the games I play I just personally use SMB to "feel" it out since I'm so familiar with it and the jump sound is so distinct and synced. The game I always suggest people use to learn to feel it is Punch-Out since it has a nice gradual curve but becomes very twitchy. You might be wisest to just ignore the meme though since once you know it you can feel it in lots of things - like nearly all modern games for example.

I have a fucking "Ilo" branded 40" 720p plasma in my mancave that I got at Goodwill for $10. I lugged it home and tested it before installing it with my 360 over component and it worked beautifully and I also hooked it up via VGA to my secondary and retro gaming computers and once I lobotomized the ID pin on the VGA cable I was able to set it to modes that look pretty nice on it (though I still haven't positively identified its native resolution).

When I got my X'Eye and tried to hook it up via Svideo the fucker hummed like you wouldn't believe, crackled even and there was scary amounts of interference. If I let it actually switch into "TV Tuner" mode it can get stuck and become completely nonresponsive - not even coming back from being unplugged unless left for an hour or more for the coils to discharge completely (and sometimes needing dozens of tries at coming from "off" to "standby"). The HDMIs don't seem to work either like at all just black screen on them. It seems to only work properly in analog progressive scan modes which I guess I just got lucky as being the only way I really ever intended to use it. Back when I still had satellite TV I used a video capture card to watch through the PC.

I bought a new power supply for it for like $25 and it mostly fixed the return-to-standby problem but not any of the signal problems. I have another 40" LCD in the basement I paid some local Craigslist scammer too fucking much for and never got working. He later tried to sell my wife a tablet PC and me a desktop both with much shittier specs than he advertised I really should have taken pics of him and his shitty V6 Charger to post as caveat emptors.

But yeah, consider shopping for a new TV. My girls down at the pawn shop hooked me up a year age with an LG 60" plasma that had only been dropped once - minor cosmetic corner damage, blown out pedestal mount and one malfunctioning HDMI port. Only $200 with a 30-day warranty. Shop around. 1080p TVs are getting cheap

The Hilux with the hilarious new old stock 80s decals on it? Or is that one black. I recognize you more from your cabin. Anyway, Capris only got bubble butts starting in 1983. Mine actually is an 83 but it's dressed up like an 82 with the hatch and the scoop and it's more like a 93 under the hood. Wish it was more like a 93 under the hump too. I'm about sick of the 4 speed.

Both my biggest screens are plasma. Old ass 40" in the basement with a piss low native resolution, LG 60" 1080p upstairs. I think they're even more intense than OLED but they eat the amperes.

It's a retro duo not a retron and it's only grainy because there's low light. That particular CRT is primarily decoration.
