/vr/ - Retro Games

just a question. i missed the whole nintendo era because of my age. i went straight from an intellivision when i was a kid to an xbox for my kid. i'm now old as fuckall and discovering nintendo. these things are hard as hell just because i'm used to being able to save. but i do notice i'm getting a little further in the game almost every time. that's good, right? it will probably still take me 5 years to get throught a full game, but fuck it. all i have left to do is die. i've got time until i don't

so guys, i'm one of those that was right between the early nintendo consoles and PCs. i had a new mortgage to pay for and no time for playing games. i'm an old fart now and i'm wanting to put together a snes for castlevania 4 and mario world. amazon looks like just short of $300 for an original refurb. does that sound near right ?

yeah, i said it. it had to be said, i'm tired of it being circlejerked by nostalgic americans. the graphics are usually muddy trash, the sprites and colors are just so damn drab, ugly and lacking detail that Rondo of Blood/Dracula X has. The control is not as tight as Castlevania III, and the music is cool but still doesn't hold a candle to Rondo/Dracula X. It was a falter and it was nice to see Konami hit their stride after the failure that was IV.

Worst castlevania game ever. I thought Bloodlines was a little lacking but this makes Bloodlines look like the fucing GOAT

Preferably something as easy to use as possible, I don't know shit about emulation. I just want to play some of the SNES games I missed out on and I don't feel like paying Nintendo money for games they made a ton of money from decades ago.
