Dude, the game also wasn't designed for Saturn Maria, nor Richter.
The game is designed around Alucard and gaining abilities and gear and shit, like powerups and suit parts on Metroid.
Also why use any subweapon when you have Maria's stand, Dark Maria?

Am I the only one who prefers PSP Maria because of her mid-air dash? So much fun and fast to play. Also, Maria still having her animal friends makes more sense.

I actually prefer Maria's classic Rondo moveset. Seeing all those animals re-worked in SOTN-style spritework was great.
