Maybe I'm just crazy but that phase is arguably my favorite parts of RomSaGa 2.
I've been playing Minstrel Song alot again lately and one of the things I've come to really appreciate about 2 is that, if I'm not happy with my current party composition, I'll be able to recreate it from scratch at some point soon (either by generation skip or Emperor dies).

In MS, I'll often regret certain decisions in how I invest jewels, money, and however else build my chosen characters. Replacing a character means that what I've put into them is effectively wasted, thus making my party weaker overall; so i start feeling an urge to start over from the beginning of the game with what I've learned.

RomSaGa 2 feels a bit less punishing in that regard. My last completed playthrough of MS was 45 hours but guarantee you that at 10-15 hours of that time was spent my fussing over my party in menus and moving across the world to find the mentors, spells, blacksmiths, and whatever I want to build my party; in 2, it almost feels a little streamlined, with that phase all being condensed into Avalon. It's precisely what I wish MS had; being able to manage all this one location instead of having to waste time wandering Marias, trying to remember which mentor has the class I want to switch to just so i can more effectively mine ore or gather herbs.

Come to think, maybe we could make the translation. People here sure knows japanese. I don't know shit about romhacking, but i know programming and i was always interested in these subjects.
