They did. It was called the "CPS Changer", not to be confused with CPS1/2/3 arcade boards. A friend of mine had one, but we come to learn that one person is attempting to monopolize all non-Japanese information about the console until recently now that a few more people know about it. You will find out if you took any pictures of the console, as the person would attempt legal action against you for their supposed pictures belonging to them. It had controller ports compatible with SNES controllers. Probably for their own Capcom Power Stick Fighter joysticks. Capcom intentions was similar to the SNK strategy, but mail-order only. Capcom did continue with mail-order only games, but the CPS Changer and its games were very expensive just like SNK games were too.

I think it was because it was not accurate to the arcade original. The community around fighting games really disliked the Dreamcast. On more than one occasion, I recall tournament organizers would destroy Dreamcast systems on-stream at the end of tournaments and held parties in the hotel rooms smashing them. It could be the higher clock speed of the Dreamcast made them very inauthentic to the CPS2 game so it would tamper results so the timings and combos which one could or couldn't perform on Dreamcast were skills that did not translate over to how the game actually plays.

I didn't think it was that bad a port. I actually like it, unlike the Megaman games they ported to DOS which I thought was truly terrible.

To varying degrees of success Capcom, Konami, SNK, Sega, and EA did have their own base console. For Capcom, look up the CPS Changer, which was a pretty cool system with even its own exclusive but sadly it was hampered by being mail order only. Similar to Konami, I think Capcom tries with ports to all sorts of platforms like Japanese computers, as with Konami to the MSX there's Capcom on Sharp's X68000. There's even ports to DOS and Windows machines Capcom had trusted other development teams, and they also explored licensing out for Sega/NEC to "reprogram" for themselves like Ghouls n' Ghosts/Strider for the Genesis and PC-Engine. If anything, Capcom and Sega at one time made beautiful music together once Capcom was freed from Nintendo contracts. Capcom just embraces the 3rd party strategy for their success, maybe by just being exposed everywhere.

My old memory is failing me given my age, but to my recollection of Vega/M.Bison(Dictator) seemed to have changed. I think he was in some relationship with Killer Bee as that was to be his new body to contain the psycho power. However in story the stocky version of him got defeated and he used Rose's body as the new vessel in desperation, thus the skinnier version. However, I think now Rose and dictator are separate for I don't know what reason.

The Dreamcast version I have only has the arcade music. It is not arcade perfect, but plays close enough for me. It would be nice to integrate the DOS music since it is unique.

Since I only had a computer monitor at the time, it was great that I did not have to go through the XRGB2 to play Dreamcast like I did with the Saturn/SNES/PCE. Since I had the Pelican brand one, it had a passthrouh, so it fit nicely with the XRGB2 and my computer. Give the Capcom games a try, they really supported Sega's systems back then with some high quality titles.

Always thought it was cool Capcom got Araki-sensei to illustrate Midler for the game. In the original comic at the time, she fought everyone at a long distance, and no one saw the character, until one panel at the end where you only see her dead and it was only her legs. That was the only image of the character until the game. The Capcom artists/designers of the day idolized his art and commissioned him to finish designing the character for their game.

I always thought it was topped by JoJo and Dio, followed up by Midler. Then again, it wasn't really competitive amongst my friends playing it.

I'm so old, I remember when the manga was new, before all the pages yellowed. I swear, the author must be in competition with the guy who does the Golgo 13 manga, and the Kochikame artist to see who can outlive the other and draw the longest running manga series. I do think it is cool that so many people like Jojo's now, makes me think "wow, where were all these cute Jojo's cosplayers when I was young, oh yeah, kindergarten". The characters definitely were influences on some of my favorite Street Fighter characters like Juri Han.
