Not kids, but in high school I played Kingdom Hearts with my nieces (it was about ten years old at that point). They liked it for the Disney references and thought Sora's shoes were funny. Later they got really into watching me play Persona Q and even asked their dad to get them 3DSs for it. Their mom hated video games (specifically any game I liked) though so it never happened.

Now my nephews (their younger brothers and my older sister's son) are obsessed with Pokemon, and I wish I could get them 3DSs with the old games on them before the eshop shuts down. I don't know if they'd like the old games, but I figure it would at least be a novelty to them.

At the moment I have my little brother in law over. He and I are making the rounds in old games that pique his interest.
Mario Kart, Twisted Metal 2, Crash Bandicoot, and Super Mario World seem to be the ones he likes a lot.
He also tried Pokemon Red on an original Gameboy, and was amazed at how we played games without backlights or color back then.

I like that there is already more varied environments so its a little easier to remember where areas go. Not drawing a map this time because I can remember well enough so far.
Really enjoying the sprint for backtracking though and having more magics right away is a lot better if I could figure out how to restore MP without using my precious few items. Is there any point to have copies of keys made? Seems like a neat but weird feature when so far only the rhombus keys end up actually used and I have enough so far to not worry especially when you can pick them back up. I want to use it since if its a feature it probably has a use but I cant figure it out if I should yet unless my silver key is only one use which it shouldnt be right?

I tried to use emulators that supposedly could alleviate the speed issues with overclocking but neither would even start the game properly even with adjusting settings accordingly. I'm not the best by any stretch at figuring out emulators so I said screw it.
Please say only this one has the framerate issues, I'm fine with a slow speed but the wild inconsistency makes it really jarring when your fighting.

Anyways great games and hope I can get though 2 and start 3 soon. I love the ps1 but these graphics are not quite evergrace or eternal ring which is what I started with from these devs haha. I'm sure once I can open more things I'll be enjoying it more. This beginning romp is always the most dangerous it seems.
