The SNES had a lot of graphical and CPU bottlenecks that prevented it from achieving the same level of graphical fidelity, fluid sprite movements and animations, and colour vivid compared it's peers. If the developers were aware of the PC Engine's 3 TIMES faster processor, they may very well feel that way.

The PC Engine JRPG library totally mogs the SNES, and I'm tired of pretending it doesn't.

Based. PC Engine CD, Mega Drive, Mega CD, and PC-98 JRPGs completely mog the output of the "JRPG powerhouse" the SNES. Squaresoft didn't truly begin to shine until their golden era on the PlayStation.
