That's what Fil Barlow, one of the character designers says because his original pre-Captain N concept art also uses a green Megaman. His excuse is that his TV wasn't calibrated right, but that Megaman STAYED green through all the revisions is on everyone else.

But I do like the original concept art for the show. It has a great style to it. They were going to give Mega man parents. And Paper Boy was originally planned to be the main character instead of Captain N.

It's a miracle that Zelda had a good passing resemblance to the videogame series, and even managed to retain whatever lore the series had at that point in time.

>All I had was 1 night to play some Nintendo titles, I focused on Megaman and Kid Icarus, I played them until dawn and sketched as many characters as I could. That was all I had to work with. So the accuracy of the characters was entirely up to what I could figure out in one night. I tried to be as faithful as I could with the time I had. Any differences between Megaman as I did him in the pitch and his actual look was unintentional, he was just a tiny cluster of pixels on a small TV screen back then, I honestly thought his costume was green from memory. My main intention was to follow how the characters looked during gameplay which struck me as cute and chunky.

>The fact that the series continued without any further analysis of characters such as Megaman shows just how little everyone who came after me, including the Nintendo Producers, looked at the actual game, let alone played it.

Because it turns out the guys who designed the characters for the show didn't even have the box art to go off: they were literally drawing from the sprites on their blurry old CRTs. Read this:
