it set itself apart from 7 other titles in the series, i give it points for that.

the vampire/darkstalkers games really captivated me at the time. always spent my last bit of change on them at the arcade. marvel vs capcom 2 is great for stupid fun, but doesn't feel as intricate for some reason. sfa3 is also one of my favorite psx games of all time. I like samurai showdown games too, but they also seem a bit shallow sometimes.

The art direction is great and the storyline interesting enough, but I just can seem to manage to have any sort of actual fun with this game; way too rigid in structure to all its supposed freedom and flexibility in managing your units.

Had it been something more breezier and open with field-stuff to do like a Shining Force 2 for example it could have been, indeed, amazing.
