Actually, it will come out of the top even if you don't tilt it all that much. That's because it will have enough hydraulic head thanks to both the water's weight and the fact that at both the nuzzle and the can itself the water are at atmospheric pressure.

Of course, I'm neglecting a lot of stuff here but basically the water pushes itself out against gravity.
