>the real question is why can't you settle for flash carts to help you "experience" the same feeling of playing these games when they were realised and why you feel the need to fill your life with the actual "honest" media.
I do play on flash carts a lot however one of the reasons I still buy games every now and then is for moments like this when I was looking through the manual of a copy of Shinobi 3 I bought. Can't really explain it too well but I get a real kick when I'm flipping through a manual and see someone's notes from over twenty years ago in it or hell just a sticker of some defunct video store. There's just something very endearing to me about catching a really tiny glimpse of someone's experience with a game over twenty years ago they more than likely forgot about.

It's those little things that makes me love collecting so much in the first place. There's something really cool about looking through the manual and getting a piece of someone's experience 20+ years ago.

>You score isn't even saved

That's why you write it down in the manual and hope some guy will see your score 20 years later after he buys the game off ebay.

>would write all over manuals and eventually lose them as well

I actually like it when someone writes stuff in the notes section. It's like a little time capsule when I buy a game today and find stuff written in like 1991. Pic related gave me a big smile on my face when I saw it after getting the game in the mail last year.
