Magazines at the time say otherwise, unless there was a port AND a sequel in development at one point. It technically hasn't been confirmed that the rival and the alternate Richter and Maria sprites are from the same project, just that the former is for a playable character designed with western tastes in mind and the latter was for the Sega 32X game; the former coud be related to one of the two scrapped playable Rondo characters that we know nothing about other than a mention in a programmer interview, before the decision to make Rondo Japan-only. I suppose someone can ask IGA about it again to set the record straight now that he's probably years removed from NDAs.

The 'rival' was said by IGA to be a playable character that "mirrors overseas consumer tastes" so it was mostly likely for the 32X game, which was primarily a SoA project I believe. Doubtful they had it in mind for Rondo, in fact the Rondo devs knew they were prob making a Japan-only game and thus they had freedom to do things they couldn't previously. BTW, "The Bloodletting" is a BS title that IGA doesn't recognize, magazines back in the day said that it was another version of Dracula X (probably its own retelling). The only instance of the title was Konami's vague CES 1995 listing for a Sony PlayStation / Sega Saturn game, sounding like either an early western title for Symphony of the Night or possibly from the period of development it had more Bloodlines connections.
