/vr/ - Retro Games

What do you guys think about Final Fantasy III? I feel like everything it did, V did a lot better, but it's the only retro FF I've yet to beat, and I'm thinking about sitting down and finally doing it. Problem is, I keep going back and forth on what version to play. I think the original Famicom version has a lot better presentation, the spritework looks nice and has a lot of charm. The actual game is a bit archaic, though. Switching jobs can get tedious what with having to unequip your dudes every time and all that. I've been spoiled by the remakes of the first two and the later games. I really don't like the 3D style they used in the DS/PSP version, but a lot of the problems I have with the original aren't present in that one.

I guess there's not really a question here. I just don't see this game talked about much on here, and I'd like to hear some thoughts on it.
