>Tell me of even one Japanese game that is comparable to the upper echelons of Western game development.
>I can't think of any games that have the same kind of mechanical depth
Super Mario 64 has by far more mechanical depth in its movement than any western game, let alone any western platformer.

There is plenty of evidence that the gameplay is fluid, fast, consistent, and not clunky at all. Are you sure you aren't just shit at games, anon?

>with simple fucking mechanics.
Oh boy, check out this mongoloid.
>they can be fun, but its fun like a pop song.
No, they're fun like a video game.
>same with OoTs storyline, its fucking simplistic as fuck and never changes. over and over the same game, with the same name, just different skins.
This is true for Final Fantasy, too. If you had any critical thought power at all you would notice the thematic identicalities between every Final Fantasy game and how they're all essentially the same story each time with minor differences and new irrelevant worldbuilding. At least Zelda has movement, physics, and manual combat instead of selecting text on a screen to make a lengthy animations play.
>if you compare it with mario 64 and OoT, it is way more complex and makes both of those games look like "babies first" bullshit.
Ironically, only a child would think this.

the movement mechanics were watered down top to bottom, not even actual analog controls could fix it.

a bunch of bad filler stages were added that no one enjoys.

every character was made worse than mario was in the original to pidgeonhole you into using all of them.

resolution is worse, looks like jittery pixelated ps1 shit.

It creates a new game out of an old one and allows you to more thoroughly appreciate and understand games you've always loved.

>"play to get good"
You know that this gets people addicted to games that they don't really find fun too, right? And that it also requires a fuckload of mindless grinding?

High level score runners and speedrunners fucking hate themselves.
