Genesis will run like 95% of the Master System library if you give it the ROMs, the oldschool and official way of doing this was to use the Powerbase Converter, which was a passthrough adapter allowing you to insert Master System games for the console to read. Minor drawback is that about 10 or so games aren't properly compatible with the Genesis, a couple of them don't want you to use the 6 Button controller at all (even if you use the Mode Button), while the rest of this small group just won't work period. I think also that the Powerbase Converter won't fit on a Model 3 Genesis.

However, with the right Flashcart, the Genesis can do all of this for you, bypassing the need for finding a Powerbase Converter at a marked up price, while also being able play Genesis games, tubular!
The Everdrive guy was in Ukraine when Putin went banan, so he had to bail with his family, thus you won't find any new stock of Everdrives nor at any good prices for a long time, but some of the Chinese clones are pretty decent.

I had pic related and we also had a Game Gear so I have experience with SMS titles, although I can't say it was memorable compared to Genesis.
Yesterday I found out my cousin owned a Saturn in the 90s but I was unaware of this. I swear he never mentioned it when they came over for holidays. Explains why he loved playing our PlayStation so much

Never owned one but I had a Power Base Converter for my Genesis and played some SMS games. Cool system. Don't find myself revisiting it or the NES today though.

Because the power base converter was designed for the Model 1. The 32x came when there were multiple Genesis models.

With that being said, the 32x still could have been designed better.

Is the Power Base Converter allowed?

I wouldn't be that offended by Rolfe and Mattei's obvious Nintendo bias if it wasn't for the fact that they think the SNES had better beat-'em-ups than the Genesis. They only mentioned the first Streets of Rage without even acknowledging either of its superior sequels (SOR2 blows away any beat-'em-up on the SNES).

They also bring up backwards compatibility without even acknowledging the Power Base Converter.

TL;DR: James rolfe is a nostalgic casual who has no legit interest in his hobby and only got his massive collection through fan donations.

I'm surprised nobody has ever attempted to make a video rebuttal to Rolfe's Genesis vs. SNES video.
