Standalone games do happen, especially now with GZDoom being GPL complaint. But of them just end up being labors of love that are free. Still yet to see a commercial IWAD in the style of say, REKKR.

Mind you, some mappers do get hired to work on other faux-retro FPS.

Just clicked. Sounded like a collection or codice or something. I actually bought it and only got a few hours in. Somewhere in Kalm still. Put it away and sold it awhile later.
I REALLY wanted to like that game. I should've kept though.
More willing to forgive things for the sake of story and plot.
Maybe they can remastermake it after the eventual 7 release.
