Everyone loves Ecco the Dolphin. You can't say no to that cover. Other than that you can do the Valis series, it has a female protagonists and is a side scrolling action game. Ristar is on the cute side. Maybe a simple arcade game not focused on killing like Mappy or Flicky? Puzzle games can be good like Tetris, Puyo Puyo, Sokoban, Lemmings, The Humans!, Columns, The Lost Vikings, and Toki Tori. Maybe games in which you build things, girls love The Sims. Girls seem to like JRPGs as well so try an easy one to get into like a Dragon Quest game, Final Fantasy, or something similar.

I'm having a spiritual war with this damn game. I thought the game was reasonable before the two last parts, but having to tackle The Machine then learn the final boss is a lot. The game isn't even nice to you, if you don't know entering the boss lair will put you square onto a drone and you aren't moving you'll straight up die in a second and get booted back to The Machine. You have to do the six minute auto scroller once again to get another attempt. I've heard other versions alter things like the SEGA CD iteration has regenerating health but the Vortex Queen does more damage, and the Japanese version gives you the password when you reach the boss room. I'm not giving in yet, but God damn it is one hell of an endurance battle to win.
