I also started with 3, in fact it was the first video game i have ever played - and i still like 4, perhaps even better than 3. I loved every single change they introduced, the writing in campaigns was god tier, and the music was probably best in the series. Also, much like >>5425815 i also disliked 5. Campaigns and story were okay-ish despite entering a new universe, but the music was dull, and the maps were so damn confusing - i missed alot of stuff every game, simply because i coudln't see it from behind trees or rocks, and constantly rotating the camera was a chore and made me get lost in the map at times.
Although i think 6 was pretty good. It fixed most compliants i had with 5 (except the music maybe, majority is just recycled from older games). I also liked the resource reduction, the territory system, magic and skill rework was great, and the dynasty system was pretty fun. The only bigger downside is that it requires internet connection, but nowdays it's rarely an issue.
