The Chinese firmware is garbage, FPSE wouldn't update, all the Oid emulators had no video, various other emulators lagged, and I couldn't get their base chinese emulators to find my roms.

But once I installed NCCE, everything cleared up, literally everything, I can't recommend community firmware enough. Also my analog sticks and buttons are still going fine, my D-Pad is a little squeaky, but I honestly don't mind it. It doesn't feel like it's going to fail or anything. Get it from Willgoo, since they take returns, so that if you get a defect in shipping you can send it back.

Android emulators have gone a long way, I've been able to emulate pretty much any game I've wanted to play on N64 or PSX, or any systems before. Hell, I just recently wanted to play a Sega Genesis CD game, and guess what, one of the emulators supports it!

I'm not sure how a USB controller would connect because I've never tried it, but I do know that bluetooth controllers work great with it. Wiimotes and Dual Shock 3's seem to be the most popular for that.

It really blows my mind how far Android emulation has gone, my S7300 is emulating Front Mission 3 with an OpenGL plugin, with anti-aliasing on, staying around 55-60 FPS, with no frameskipping.
