Although I will say the text is surprisingly easy to read when the aspect ratio is set right. The Chinese retropie build that has the proper drivers came with the aspect ratio wrong, so pixels were misaligned.
Wonder if I could strip the drivers out and out them into a newer build. But I don't really know where to look.
The screen is tiny, but not horrible to read. Probably wouldn't spend a few hours doing it though.
