anything that feels like a good hero's journey, like LotR
being called to action, traveling and discovering new things, looking back and seeing how far you've come knowing that you can't go back home, stakes and danger rising, making and losing friends, that sort of thing
as far as games go I'd say SotC was the closest I've got to that feeling, and Dragon's Dogma although it's not retro
