I can emulate up to PS3. Recommend me some good horror games. Healthy people only. If you are autistic or transgendered don't bother posting. If I wanted the opinions of retards I would go to Reddit.

Why does the PS1 version of this game look so skinny when I play it on an emulator or my Mister? The PC, GameCube, Dreamcast versions all look like a "fatter" 4:3 while the PS1 version looks sort of less wide than the typical 4:3 resolution. Even if I turn off hblank on the PSX mister core or fuck with the aspect ratio settings on Duckstation I can't really get it to look right. I've noticed that the aspect ratios of Tomb Raider, Soul Reaver and MGS all seem "off" compared to their PC counterparts too. What's the deal with the PS1's aspect ratio? I understand that on a CRT it just stretches into looking "correct" but why is it so hard to get those settings on an emulator? Most of the time "no crop" and "4:3" on Duckstation works for me so maybe some games are just trickier than others?

I really don't understand why people say RE2 is an action game. It does have more shooting than RE1, but the only time I remember mowing down a big crowd of zombies is the first floor east area right of the main hall.

I know I'm just another person saying "Man, RE2 is really good", but it's maybe the only older survival horror game I actively enjoy.
The environments look spectacular, the cityscape is a major upgrade over the yellow wallpaper mansion, the game is a little more "shootey", which you can play conservatively but I don't think this one outright punishes you for being a little trigger happy.
Plus when the zombie arms reach out through the barricade, it's one of the coolest and most effective scares I've experienced in a while.
Good stuff.

Why is this regarded so highly? Its an inferior copy of RE1 with worse level design and puzzles due to being more linear and the A/B scenarios artifically lengthen the game since you mostly do the same stuff in both. I just don't get it, its a rushed sequel that does nothing new. RE3 feels more like a proper sequel to 1 because it actually adds to the formula in a significant way.

>be a N64 kid growing up
>never cared about PS1 as I thought the graphics looked bad
>recently I felt like playing retro games
>for some reason I started to really like the PS1 graphics style
>play this absolute kino game
>blown away by how good it is
Holy shit I missed out.
Not only that but this also made me realize how little games improved in the last 20+ years.

Why is this game so fucking easy? It's crazy how much the difficulty plummeted from the first game. The G you fight before putting in the chess plugs can't even attack you before its dead, and the final version of Tyrant takes two acid shots before the Ada throws you the rocket launcher. Two acid shots for what is basically the final boss? His attacks are awesome too but you never even get to see them because he is dead before he can even swing twice. Wtf were they thinking?

Sucks too because the atmosphere, music, and areas are some of the coolest in the series. The lab is really well and interestingly designed. But it's so short you can barely even appreciate it, and the sewers is nearly a non-area as there is no threat at all in it. It's still a fun game and I like it, it's just hard to call it the best RE when the game presents no challenge. What are your guys thoughts?

Simple question:
I have Resident Evil 2 downloaded onto PS3 and am playing it on my CRT connected with an S-Video cable. The image flickers like crazy and it's not that good of an experience.
Maybe it's just in my head, but my actual physical games I play on my PS2 use the same cable and tv look better.

What gives?
