That's really weird but yeah I noticed the same with most people. When HD TVs started being sold en masse, in like mis to late 2000s, everyone was getting rid of their CRTs and getting them, but they were all displaying blurry, stretched shit at the wrong ratio, and most TV channels were still SD only. Nobody seemed to care, they were just happy with their new flat TVs.
It's weird.

the multiplayer was overrated. single player still holds up if you can deal with the frame rate and lack of modern controls.

1. The single player maps were HUMONGOUS.
2. There were A HELL OF A LOT of maps.
3. They had wonderful layout and detail.
4. They had a myriad of locations.
5. Depending on your choice, the requirements to complete the level were small and easy to numerous and extremely difficult. If you got better, you'd discover more of the map and more of what you could do... places you never thought about visiting and things you never considered before.
6. Your rewards for completing more and more of the game grew more and more plentiful and powerful. It was always worth it.
7. Multiplayer was just shooting your friends on the couch on the split screen.
