RE2 has incredibly detailed models for the PS1. Just look at those textures. She actually has a normal human looking face. Other 3D games only looked alright with a cartoony style.

RE2 certainly counts. The character models are very good. Very detailed too.

They really shine in the DC or Windows ports, as they are at a higher resolution. Strangely, the character models in RE3 are not that impressive.

It's designed for CRT monitors in mind.

Get a CRT monitor. At 480p the game looks phenominal. I played the Sourcenext versions on a CRT TV and it looks so good.

PC Ports nigga. You can skip door loading animations or watch them. And they come in 480p, which is x2 of the ps1 resolution. Sadly, I am pretty sure Capcom just outright lost the original backgrounds to the game, so this is the highest we'll ever get.
