Ahhh, Dos was great. So many great adventures, so many secrets to find. So easy now to just look up a walk through, rather than find it all yourself.

the weight of the item factors into how easy it is to steal
so while you can pretty easily pickpocket a few gold, taking a sword or something will be difficult
pickpocket and stealth are separate skills and pickpocketing is the skill checked whenever you steal

as well stealth is whenever you are moving at half speed or less (half speed is when crouched) the slower you go the easier it is to sneak, so if you are really adamant about going stealth, switch to cursor movement when you are sneaking because that allows much more fine control and you can go very slow if you want to

you start with a cheap Chameleon spell too so making a class with a little magic buff and illusion as one of your skills can go a LONG way to helping you out
