The telecoms here have been a bit more lenient with data plans in the last two or so years, though having unlimited data is still expensive. Over here you don't really pay for speed, but rather data.

There isn't that much choice for the former, basically if you don't live in Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch then you are kind of fucked for gaymen. I don't know how far fibre-optic installations go.
