...are you sure you mean Super Metroid?
even if you had 65C816 source code you couldn't make it run on a PC (or any other platform) without butchering it. either way, Super Metroid is fairly well documented and broken apart at this point, even if it doesn't have a true 100% reverse engineer

The ship is clearly mode 7. The stars appear to be one background layer, and the asteroids and the space station are probably sprites. This is just a guess: You could look in Snes9x or your favorite emulator and start enabling / disabling background layers to confirm this or tell me i'm full of shit =)
