True, it was incredibly obnoxious and manipulative, and aggressively insincere, NONE of the Wolfenstein games before New Colossus, be they retro or not, were like this, neither in tone or in marketing.

Only New Colossus (and maybe Young Blood, don't know much about that one) did this at all, and probably at the behest of Zenimax thinking it would be a great idea to capitalize on the political climate.

The gameplay and story isn't that good either.

Wolfenstein: The New Order was developed by a team within Machine Games, this team also made The Old Blood, and in celebration of Quake's 20th birthday, they decided to make a little episode of levels to release for free, it's a good episode.
Wolfenstein The New Colossus was developed by a different team within Machine Games, this team also developed Youngblood, and it really shows.

Machine Games have expressed an interest in doing something with the original Quake property, which if it's that first team, that would be great, I'd love to see it, but nobody knows if that team still works there, and the fear is that the shitty team that made the shitty games will get their dirty hands on Quake.
