>a game that did what nobody thought SNES was capable of
Because it wasn't capable of it. It literally needed a co-processor made by Brits in it's cartridge

6th gen was added when it was about 20 years old, on August 28, 2020. The 360 came out in 2005 and will be 20 next year

Unironically this. Fans don't know what's good and when I say this I'm not joking at all. They're the equivalent of a 5yo who thinks putting chocolate fudge on lasagna is a good idea because chocolate tastes good

>no one would’ve been butthurt about it
I love classic RE games but I feel like everyone talking about how RE4 "killed classic RE" is completely out of touch. Classic fixed-camera RE games were selling less and less after RE2 and if RE4 would have been a new, completely different franchise, you'd simply never see another RE game.
RE was always a huge mainstream franchise and them changing the formula so the average normie buys it was inevitable. You're completely delusional if you think the RE2 remake would have sold well with a fixed camera for example. Again, I'm not saying I didn't want RE2make to be fixed-camera, it's just that it wouldn't sell nearly as much

I loved it back then but replaying it my major complaint is that there's just too much uninteresting backtracking. Now don't get me wrong, I love tons of games which have some form of backtracking, it's just that SFA doesn't do it very well.
On the technical side though the game is incredible. The fact that it runs at 60 FPS while looking this great is still impressive

>Is there even a reason to use 95 over 98SE
I've never heard of any game that runs on 95 but not 98, so no.
98SE is the best because it's the last Windows before they broke DOS (you can't restart into full DOS mode in Windows ME and some DOS games need that because they have issues if you play them in Windows) and ME is also unstable because MS made some changes that broke a lot of 98 drivers and a lot of companies didn't bother making new drivers for it

So how much are they gonna sell this for? $500? This would have been tempting a decade ago but modern software emulators like Ares with ParaLLEl are just so good these days I don't care

I dunno, the 486 one seems pretty good for any pre-Quake stuff since you have a wide range of CPUs without having to change the motherboard or anything else, from a weak 25MHz 486SX to the 486 on steroids that is the am5x86 at p90 which runs at 160MHz. I guess you can also benchmark with different video cards too because even with software rendering you'll get different performance with different cards. Applies both on real machines and in 86box.

Didn't the X68000 cost the equivalent of $8000 in today's US dollars? The NES cost the equivalent of less than $600 in today's money.
You're comparing a $8000 system to a $600 one. Of course you could have crazy shit if you paid the price of an arcade machine

What, you didn't know you had to wet a towel, put it in a freezer and not forget to also plug the freezer so a completely different character in another mission puts the frozen towel between two pieces of furniture and put a piggy bank on it so it ends up thawing over time and the piggy breaks when falling on the floor to distract a shibito? Git gud

The biggest problem with the DS version is that the music sounds like ass. They obviously couldn't fit a whole CD on a DS cart so they remade the OST in some shitty sounding MIDI

They're fucking shit and if you're not playing on original hardware, any re-release aside from the 3DS version is completely useless since modern emulation on PC is better than Nintendo's official emulation. Emulation with paraLLEl-RDP makes Nintendo look like jewish hack frauds

>Name a better title than this arcade classic
If Sega didn't try to port it to home consoles it usually means it has no lasting appeal. There's a reason why this wasn't ported to home consoles but House of the Dead 1 and 2 were.

>Just wish the dodge had more than a 1 frame window to pull off
You have to understand how the dodge works. It's not about pressing the aim button exactly when the enemy attacks you. The way it works is the enemy has to land it's attack during the animation where you raise your weapon. So for example the attack has to hit you between the moment you press the aim button and the moment Jill's gun is completely raised.

Not entirely retro but they added some new tracks for the 3DS port and this one is pretty good:
