Arcade games have never been more popular now that all you have to do is download a fightcade with full romset and click it
Arcade controllers are selling more and more and could double in sales up to 2027 from now
>Going to the arcade experience
Yeah offline play is more fun but gaming centers nowadays charge you by the hour and are empty as fuck
>Make a comeback
All the minimally playable and fun arcade games are alive and kicking today, thank you

/vr/ related because it's for retro arcade games

>Have this full Sanwa custom arcade stick at home
>Forgot it on mom's house when I moved out
>It's been sitting on a box in the basement for some good 5 years
>Want to play arcade games on my PC
>Go and pick it up
>The solders are all disconnected, heavy shit's been on top of it
>XBOX controller inside still works, it's just the solders

>Take it to a repair shop
>State the problem, guy takes it in
>A week goes by without word from them
>Call the place
>No answer
>Repeat 10's of times until someone picks up
>"Hey I'll give you the price for the repair until the end of the afternoon"
>No response
>Call the next day
>"Hey I'll give you the price until the end of the week"
>Nothing
>Call next week
>Same shit happens for 4 weeks
>Enter the 5th week (today), I drive there and say "just give me my controller back you guys have the worst custommer service I've ever seen"
>Guy picks it up, hands it to me
>"You know, there's just this one button left to repair" - shows me the extra button
>I say "sorry, I don't trust you guys anymore after all those missed promises to return my calls"
>I grab the thing and leave
>Get home
>Plug it in
>7 out of 10 buttons are working
>None were working before
>I can play whatever I want perfectly on it now
>Spend the whole fucking day playing retro arcade games on GGPO
>Start to feel guilty about them having repaired 70% of my controller for free
>But feel right as a customer because they haven't fucking called me ONCE in 30 days to even tell me what was going on
>Still angry because of all those "I'll call you back" lies
>Thinking of going back there and handing them a few bucks for the trouble (half of what they asked for)

What would you do, /vr/?

Bear in mind there are very, VERY few dedicated players to those. You can probably count them in the tens, worldwide.
So yeah, it's a very patrician choice. I just don't get the question. Is it "worth it" to get good at any vidya at all? That's kinda personal.

>Be 11yo me, a jolly SNES player
>Go sleep at a friend's house, he's like 16
>He has his own room in the basement
>Only a PC in there
>Shows me Doom
>We spend the whole night taking turns playing Doom and going outside to shoot BB guns
>Sun comes up
>Sleep for like 5 hours
>Wake up, have lunch, Doom time again
Ah, the good old times
