/vr/ - Retro Games

Been coming back to pic related lately even after having 1cc'd Hard mode already. The amount of characters along with how much your build actually matters on higher difficulties makes this one of my go to games for a quick fix of adrenaline/strategy. Still not sure if Super Hard is too BS for a clear, but overall it has most of what I liked about the first one and not a lot of what I didn't. One of Treasure's better games, and probably their most unsung.

Tough question because I don't think there's a definitive answer. SP 101 seems obvious with the backlit screen and clicky buttons but I might prefer the form factor of the original (and I miss the headphone jack more than I probably should).

There's also a lot of weird stuff that would be worth checking out before the pandemic fucked used game prices. The Super Monkey Ball "port" is surprisingly legit, and Hajime no Ippo is novel enough to occupy a few afternoon sessions.

And much like Astro Boy, you have to play on Hard for it to not be completely mindless. It still isn't great then, but it's better than it gets credit for (they've certainly made worse).

Pic related on the other hand is legit and yet not even their diehard fans talk about it. I kind of wish they didn't ditch the lane switching, but it otherwise improves on the original in every meaningful way.
