There's a bestiary but as far as I can tell it can only be accessed from the title screen. The scrolling map with the enemy sprites on them is kinda cool, at least. The music player is also only accessible from the title screen.

There's no detailed treasure list, but the map does tell you how many chests are there in the area, and also tells you what kind of shops exist in towns.

Having played through the Marsh Cave, it seems harder than the modern ports (GBA and later), and being limited to charges rather than MP does mean you have a lot less freedom to heal status effects like the ever-present Poison, but it has been a while since I've played the original NES version or the modern ports. Mages I'm pretty sure have more charges than in the original, but that's probably more because you level up faster than the original.

Overall, eh, I think it's fun, but the only real highlight is the soundtrack, which is great and now I'm looking forward to seeing FF5 and 6 actually get a fully redone soundtrack for once instead of just recycling the SNES tracks.
