So what's the correct course of action here?
Killing the dog and seeing the old man cry is sad as fuck, but if You don't do it, their souls are still trapped in Dracula's castle. By killing the dog's (corrupted) ghost with the Vampire Killer you're probably releasing their souls.

I always try to avoid killing the doggo.

Same thing in the secret room on SCV IV.
When you kill the dog's ghost, the old man ghost will come close to it and start crying until both their souls vanish.
Truly heartbreaking seeing the old man crying for his doggy, I always try to pick up the health and some gold quickly and get out without killing the dog.

Which of the two games had the most feels?
