About to play this for the first time, any pointers?

Front Mission 3! Seriously, its so under appreciated. It's got a hard sci-fi story and also has an in-game internet that really helps flesh the world out. The characters are all a bit lacking, however.

Did anyone ever figured out what the 1-TAX-HELL

Whats the general concensus for the Front Mission games? Which one is the best? The worst? I'd like to get into the series but I don't have a clue about any improvements/faults the sequels may have.

Playing cuz muh nostalgia. Still just as fun as back in the day, definitely liked it more than the new ones.
