Honestly, I think the backlash the guy got was obviously the usual sensationalist outrage garbage, but at the same time, he could've just left it as newhalf. It's a cool sounding word that suits the time the game was released, and it doesn't have any negative connotations that I'm aware of. It was used for that one SotN enemy, too.

I've never heard tranny used in a way that wasn't meant to be at least somewhat insulting, and I can't imagine anybody ever saying "I'm a tranny" which is how it was worded in the hack. Just a shit translation, though really not something to cancel a guy over. Funny thing is, I think if somebody who wasn't trying to push their rules and values on the guy pointed it out to him, he wouldn't have gotten defensive and imploded. It really wasn't anything worth defending to that point.
